MUSICIAN

 

Challenged with expanding the enlightenment of music and gospel, Askew love for music was developed through years of training as  a saxophonist and tenor vocalist (1987-present). 

While traveling statewide to sing in a gospel ensemble in the mid to late 90’s, the commitment led to the management of  the oldest fraternal organizations in the history of music. 

 

Often heard laughing and saying "I Love My Big Brothers." Mr. Askew served as a charter member and 1st President-elect of the Omicron Delta Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America.  Phi Mu Alpha was founded in New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. 

 

Askew can be credited with compiling the necessary application material for the transition of the musical colony into the Omicron Delta chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Musical Fraternity. The Omicron Delta Chapter  at Alabama A&M was chartered in 1995, and re-organized in 2011.

"In his 1995 State of the Union Address, President Clinton challenged Americans to join together in a national campaign against teen pregnancy. The birth rate for teens aged 15-19 declined every year of the Clinton Presidency, from 60.7 per 1,000 teens in 1992 to a record low of 49.6 in 1999."

Askew developed a government support firm (Psalms 35 Investment Firm), which aides companies in building capacity and/or seek solution based results through technical support.  P35 has maintained customer relations in all areas of the local/federal government, not-for-profit, and faith-based organizations. 

 

Though, Askew has implemented some of the most noteworthy change management strategies for at-risk local agencies in the area of Finance and Administration in Alabama, District of Columbia, Commonwealth of Virginia and US Virgin Island, his most significant professional and personal impact-ful accomplishment was the execution of a youth development agri-business campaign titled “Ending Food Deserts…..Growing Green Richmond.” & the development and the transition of the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Initiative from the Executive Office of the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer to the Richmond City Health District under the administration of Mayor  L. Douglas Wilder and  Mayor Dwight C. Jones.

PURPOSE DRIVEN 

Askew's intent is to clearly define “what is a state of self-sufficiency” for both Children, Youth, Adolescents, Families, Senior and Disabled populations.

In 2010, Askew pushed forward with the development of “Lineage Institute.” A Network of Community Investors developed to maximize the usage of his models throughout urban and rural communities. As a result, in 2012, Askew developed a "Family Focus Planning Platform' called the Georgia and Carrie Foundation (non-profit), which builds on social economic empowerment of the family.
